Tukuyu, Rungwe
Rungwe district is part of Mbeya area in the south west of Tanzania.
Tukuyu is the district capital. Rungwe is one of the greenest parts of
the country. The rolling hills are covered with the green tea bushes and
the lush valleys offer fertile soils for many crops.
Being on the escarpment of the great Rift Valley, the area has many volcanic
mountains and crater lakes. Rungwe offers unique flora and fauna. It is

Conservation Society has recently discovered a new monkey species!
Next to breathtaking landscapes Rungwe offers authentic Nyakyusa
culture. Being one of the biggest tribes of Tanzania, the Nyakyusa have
an interesting culture and history.

10 kilometers outside of Tukuyu, surrounded by banana trees and teafields,
the Lutengano Centre has simple rooms and a large camping ground. Camping/rooms
from TSH 1,000/4,000 per person.
